Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
Ephesians 3:20-21
When I was reading verse 14 to 21 the lyrics of a song came to mind, and if you know me, then you will appreciate, that songs and lyrics do not bounce around in my head! I had the words…
‘Our God is an awesome God he reigns
From heaven above with wisdom, power and love
Our God is an awesome God’
…ringing in my ears!
We should rightly bow before this awesome God who created the universe, time, space, love, joy, family, etc. Not only did He create everything, but He sustains everything as well.
I was struck by the greatness of God again recently while I spent some time in the bush with friends, and I looked at the diversity of nature and the infinite splendour of the night sky and beauty of African sunrises and sunsets.
What continues to astound me is that God grants me access to all of His power through His Son, Jesus. This makes Him an awesome God.
What is humbling, is that God reaches out to the unsaved through believers like you and me It is through the power of the Holy Spirit, that fills us with the complete fullness of God, that He uses us to reach those who are outside of His Kingdom. This same power, is the power that the apostle Paul had, when he brought the gospel to the Gentiles and changed the history of the world.
This places a great responsibility on us to live lives that are different to the ways of the world.
God, thank you that You have saved me through Your grace, and that through Your power, granted to me by the Holy Spirit, I am able to live a life that brings glory to You. Help me to resist the distractions of the world and to reflect Your glory. Use me to further Your kingdom. Amen.
