Proverbs 25:13
Like a snow-cooled drink at harvest time
is a trustworthy messenger to the one who sends him;
he refreshes the spirit of his master.
Here the key term is “faithful.” The messenger is faithful by delivering a true rendering of the message and by representing his masters favorably. A poor messenger distorts the message either through inaccuracy of what he conveys or by a presentation that dishonors those he represents.
How good of a messenger are you for your Lord? Do you faithfully impart his message? Do you use Scripture well in its context or do you distort it by poor interpretation or application? To both believer and unbeliever, are you conscientious in conveying what Scripture says and only says?
How well do you represent your Lord? Do you convey Scripture accurately, only to distort it by your careless behavior? When you speak of the love of God, do you also convey that love by your life? When you deliver the message that God is holy, do you demonstrate your own concern to be holy?
You are a messenger. You cannot escape being such if you are a disciple of Christ. Pray that you will be one who is faithful in word and deed, one who blesses your Lord as the cold of snow refreshes the soul.
Psalm 110
The Lord says to my lord:[a]
“Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies
a footstool for your feet.”2 The Lord will extend your mighty scepter from Zion, saying,
“Rule in the midst of your enemies!”
3 Your troops will be willing
on your day of battle.
Arrayed in holy splendor,
your young men will come to you
like dew from the morning’s womb.[b]4 The Lord has sworn
and will not change his mind:
“You are a priest forever,
in the order of Melchizedek.”
